Upcoming Free Activities at DHNC

Douglas Hart Nature Center in Mattoon, Illinois has a Free Fall Fest this Saturday, Oct. 9th, from noon to 4 pm.  They have several different activities planned including:

• Arts and Crafts for the kids
• Pumpkin painting
• Scarecrow decorating
• Face Painting
• Carnival Games
• Refreshments including:  kettle corn, apple cider, and caramel apples (yum!)
• From 1-3 there will be entertainment from Morgan Entertainers
• At 12:30 pm there will be a costume contest
• At 3:00 pm there will be an activity for different age groups.  They will be competing to find prizes hidden in a haystack.
• Everything is free!

You can find out more here.  If you live in the Mattoon/Charleston area and have never been to Douglas Hart Nature Center, you should really check it out some time.  It is a fun little place to take the little ones occasionally to play, observe birds and some small animals, or go on a short hike.
